Description

5.11 Tactical Duty Kilt in Olive Green for Trail and Work

What Makes It a Duty Kilt

Three things separate a tactical duty kilt from a fashion or casual utility kilt.

  1. Snap closure instead of buckles. The wrap apron fastens with antique brass-tone snaps. Two sit on each front belt tab and four more hold the apron edge. Nothing dangles or snags.
  2. Trouser-style pockets. Slant hand pockets sit at the front hips, where your hands naturally go. Flap cargo pockets sit on both sides, at the height you’d find them on cargo pants.
  3. Attachment points. A D-ring hangs under each front belt tab for keys, a badge, a glove clip, or a small pouch.

The result wears like work trousers with open legs. You get full airflow and a free stride, without giving up your pockets.

Olive Green Has a Field Record

Olive drab became the standard colour for US Army uniforms and gear around the Second World War. Later shades like OG-107 carried it through to the 1980s. It’s still used on webbing and kit today. The reason is simple: a muted brownish green sits naturally against grass, soil, bark, and brush. On a kilt, that means it blends in on a trail, hides grass stains and trail dust, and matches most packs, jackets, and boots already in a gear cupboard.

One Kilt, a Full Day

Here’s how it works in real use. In the morning you’re on a trail. The hand pockets hold your phone and snacks, a map rides in one cargo pocket, and a torch sits in the other. At midday you’re kneeling at a job or loading a vehicle. The pleats open fully, so nothing pulls at the knee. By evening you’ve swapped the work belt for a leather one and joined a barbecue or a festival crowd. The olive stays understated enough for all three.

Before You Order

A made-to-measure kilt is only as good as the numbers you send. Run through this quick list:

  1. Measure your waist at the height you’ll wear it, usually at or just above the navel. It’s often bigger than your jeans size.
  2. Measure from that line to the middle of your knee for length.
  3. Decide on your belt. A tactical belt suits work days, and a leather belt dresses it down for casual wear. Both fit the loops.
  4. Ask us about the snap finish if you’d prefer something other than brass-tone.

Our kilt size calculator turns your measurements into a clear size before you check out.

The Rest of the 5.11 Range

This kilt sits within our full tactical range, alongside camo and solid-colour builds. The same duty layout also comes as the 5.11 tactical kilt in black for uniform wear, and as the 511 tactical kilt for sale in khaki for dry, sunny ground. If you want a lighter, more minimal build, look at the 511 Upholder Kilt.

Key Features:

  • Colour: Olive green, a classic field shade that hides dust and grass stains
  • Closure: Wrap apron with antique brass-tone snaps, eight across the front
  • Carry: Two slant hand pockets and two flap cargo pockets
  • Attachment: A D-ring under each front belt tab
  • Build: Flat apron at the front, pleats at the sides and back
  • Fit: Made to your waist and length measurements

Customization & Care:

  • Knock off dried mud and grass before washing so it doesn’t stain deeper
  • Wash cold with other greens or dark colours, with every snap fastened
  • Avoid bleach and whitening detergents, which can lift the olive dye unevenly
  • Line dry, then smooth the apron by hand while it’s still slightly damp
  • Talk to us before ordering if you’d like a different snap finish

FAQs:

What is a tactical duty kilt?
It’s a work-ready kilt built like cargo trousers. It uses snap closures, hand and cargo pockets, and D-rings instead of the buckles and plain pleats of a casual kilt.

How is a tactical kilt different from a utility kilt?
All tactical kilts are utility kilts, but not all utility kilts are tactical. A tactical kilt adds a duty layout: snap closure, trouser-style pockets, and attachment points for gear.

Is olive green a good colour for hiking and outdoor work?
Yes. It sits naturally against grass, soil, and brush, and it hides trail dust and green stains better than khaki or light grey.

Is this kilt made by 5.11 Tactical?
No. It’s a made-to-measure kilt built in the 5.11 duty style. We have no connection with 5.11 Tactical.

Will the olive colour fade?
Some softening with wear is normal for cotton. Cold washes, no bleach, and drying out of strong sun keep the shade close to new for longer.

How long is the kilt?
It’s cut to the length you send. Most people choose the middle of the knee, which keeps a free stride when climbing or kneeling.
