Description

This kilt takes Ireland’s tricolor and builds it directly into a utility kilt structure rather than just printing the flag on top of a plain garment. The main body is solid orange, and the front carries a large green-white-orange block panel on one side, fastened down with three black side-release buckle straps running in a vertical row. A cargo pocket sits lower on the opposite side in matching green-over-white fabric, closed with a flap and fitted with a small metal clip for keys or a lanyard.

Turn it around, and the back is a different story: solid orange with deep box pleats, each one trimmed with a thin white ribbon stripe running top to bottom, which is what gives the pleats their definition and movement when you walk. A black webbing strap crosses the waistband horizontally and drops a second strap down the center to a D-ring, the same hardware setup used across our utility kilt line for attaching a sporran or chain. Two more cargo pockets sit at the hips on the back panel, same green-and-white color-blocking as the front pocket, with a chain link visible hanging from one side.

The fabric is 100% cotton drill, a tightly woven twill that’s heavier than standard cotton and holds pleats without going limp after washing. Everything is made to order, so waist, hip, and length are built around your own measurements rather than picked from fixed stock sizes.

Because the flag colors are worked into actual panels and pockets rather than a flat print, this kilt reads as a proper utility garment first and a flag kilt second, which is why it works as well for St. Patrick’s Day and GAA matches as it does for everyday wear if you’re drawn to color-blocked, hardware-heavy kilts generally. If you want to compare it against a plainer take on the same idea, our Canadian Flag Kilt uses the same construction with a different national palette, and our full utility kilts range has more cargo-pocket and strap-driven styles if hardware detailing is what you’re after.

  • Design: Green, white, and orange flag-block panel with matching two-tone cargo pockets

  • Back hardware: Cross-strap waistband with center D-ring, box pleats with white ribbon trim
  • Fit: Made to order to your exact waist, hip, and length measurements
  • Occasions: St. Patrick’s Day, GAA and sporting events, festivals, or everyday utility-style wear

Customization & Care:

Hardware finish and pocket placement can be adjusted at checkout — note your preference in the order comments. Machine wash cold and hang dry; avoid tumble drying, which can loosen the ribbon trim stitching on the pleats over time.

FAQs:

Is this an official or traditional Irish garment?
No. It’s a modern utility kilt that uses the Irish flag’s colors as a design element, not a historical or ceremonial piece.

What’s the best occasion to wear this?
St. Patrick’s Day, GAA matches, Irish festivals, or as an everyday kilt if you like bold color-blocking with cargo pockets.

How many pockets does it have?
Three in total one on the front panel and two on the back hip area, all with flap closures.

How do I get the right size?
Use our measuring guide to take accurate waist, hip, and length measurements, since every kilt is cut to order.
