Colors From the Original 1978 Flag

When the first rainbow Pride flag flew in San Francisco in June 1978, it had eight stripes, each with its own meaning: hot pink for sex, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, turquoise for magic, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit. Hot pink was soon dropped because the fabric was hard to find, and turquoise followed in 1979. This kilt brings both of those lost shades back, so its pleats carry more of the original spirit than most Pride designs you’ll see today.
