KILT Measuring Guide

ScottFashion--Kilt---Measuring-Guides

📏 What You’ll Need

  • Flexible measuring tape

  • Paper and pen

  • Assistant (optional, but helpful)

  • A kilt-worthy pose—stand up straight and relaxed

1. Waist Measurement

Wrap the tape around your waist at your natural narrowest point (just above the belly button). Don’t suck in—stay comfortably relaxed. Note this measurement in inches or centimeters.

2. Seat/Hip Measurement

Measure the fullest part of your hips and seat (about 7–10 inches below the waist). Keep the tape level around your body and record the measurement.

3. Kilt Length

  • For a full kilt, measure from the waist (where you wore your modern kilt) down to the middle of your kneecap.

  • For a shorter kilt or traditional style, adjust length based on personal preference (e.g., above the knee).

Stand straight and have someone help you measure.

4. Thigh Clearance (Optional)

Measure around your thigh at its fullest point to ensure the pleats can open comfortably.

5. Rise (Optional)

Measure from the center front waistline, down through the crotch, and up to the center back waist—this gives the rise, useful for seam adjustments.

✅ Quick Tips

  • Always wear undergarments similar to those you’ll wear with the kilt

  • Don’t pull the tape tight—just snug

  • Double-check measurements for accuracy

  • Write everything clearly and match units (in/cm)

JACKET MEASURING GUIDE

🧥 What You’ll Need

  • Flexible measuring tape

  • A friend for assistance

  • Wear a T‑shirt or lightweight layer

1. Chest Measurement

Wrap the tape across the fullest part of your chest and shoulder blades, keeping your arms relaxed at your sides. Note the measurement in inches or centimeters.

2. Waist Measurement

Measure around your natural waist—just above the belly button and below the rib cage.

3. Shoulder Width

Measure from the outer edge of one shoulder (where a sleeve seam would sit) straight across to the opposite shoulder. Alternatively, measure the seam-to-seam distance across your back.

4. Sleeve Length

Bend your elbow about 90° and measure from the top of your shoulder (near the collar seam) to your wrist bone. This ensures the sleeve won’t be too short when you bend your arm.

5. Jacket Length

  • For a standard fit: Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (right next to your neck) down to your hip bone (or where you want the jacket to end).

  • For cropped styles: Measure to just above your hip.

6. Bicep & Wrist Measurements (Optional)

  • Bicep: Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm.

  • Wrist: Measure around your wrist, where the cuff will sit.

🔍 Final Tips

  • Wear similar layers to what you’ll pair with the jacket

  • Stand naturally—don’t slouch or puff up

  • Keep the tape level and snug, not tight

  • Record all measurements clearly

Lederhosen Measuring Guide

Make sure your Lederhosen fits like it was made just for you.

ScottFashion-Lederhosen-Measuring-Guides

🧍‍♂️ Essential Measurements:

1. Waist

Measure around your natural waistline — typically 1 inch above your navel. Don’t pull too tight.

✔ Tip: Lederhosen should sit snugly but not tight.

2. Hip

Measure the fullest part of your hips, usually around the seat area. Ensure the tape stays level and parallel to the floor.

3. Thigh

Wrap the tape around the widest part of your thigh. Keep your muscles relaxed for an accurate fit.

4. Inseam

Measure from the crotch down to the desired hem (usually just above the knee for traditional Lederhosen).

✔ Tip: Traditional lengths vary by style. Measure while standing straight.

5. Out seam (Optional)

From waist to bottom of shorts on the outside of the leg — useful for tailored or longer designs.

👕 Bonus Fit Notes:

  • Lederhosen is made from leather, which softens over time. A slightly snug fit initially is ideal.

  • Suspenders are often adjustable — focus more on waist, hip, and thigh than shoulder length.

📝 Before You Order:
