Description

British Military Camo Kilt in Desert DPM

The Pattern Behind It

DPM stands for Disruptive Pattern Material, the camouflage British forces used for around four decades. The woodland version is the one most people picture. The desert version on this kilt came about in 1990, when a simple two-color design of light brown brushstrokes on a sand background was introduced. The shapes are loose and painterly rather than blocky, which gives the kilt a softer look than most modern camo. It’s a pattern many British veterans and collectors recognize straight away.

Silver-Tone Hardware Throughout

All the fittings on this kilt are silver-tone metal. At the front, a vertical strap runs down the apron edge with a D-ring and a swivel snap hook for keys or a small pouch. The waistband tabs are finished with metal eyelets. At the back, two vertical tabs sit at the center of the waistband, each carrying its own D-ring. Metal chains hang at the sides of the waistband, adding weight and a bit of edge to the silhouette.

A Double Pocket Set on the Hip

The hip carries two pockets stacked one above the other. A smaller flap pocket sits at the top, trimmed with metal studs, for a lighter, cards, or change. Below it, a larger flap cargo pocket closes with a snap and has room for a phone, wallet, or folded map. A strap runs down the front of the cargo pocket with two more D-rings, so you can clip kit straight onto it.

Deep Pleats, Front to Back

Knife pleats run around the sides and back and fall deep enough to open fully when you stride, climb, or kneel. The sand-coloured base and brown shapes carry through every pleat, so the pattern looks consistent from any angle.

Not an Issued Kit Item

Serving British Army kilts are made in regimental tartans, not camouflage. This is a civilian utility kilt in a military pattern, made for people who like British forces style. That includes veterans, reenactment groups, airsoft players, cadet families, and anyone who wants a camo kilt with a story behind it.

Where to Wear It

Remembrance weekends, military shows, Highland games, festivals, camping trips, and summer walks all suit this kilt. It sits within our tactical camo kilts range. For an American desert pattern with bolder shapes, have a look at our Desert Camouflage Hiker Kilt, which uses the three-colour US design with quick-release straps.
